History of the Department
The Department of History is a single-faculty department started in the college in 1999. It offers complementary courses to First and Second Semester students of BA Economics Programme. ‘Social Formations in Pre-Modern India’ and ‘Transition to the Modern World’ are the two complementary papers opted for the first and the second semesters respectively. These papers enable the students of Economics to understand the historical background that shaped the modern economic and political structure of India and the world.
The Department of History offers a certificate course on Heritage Conservation and Management. At present admission to the course is limited to students of the College. The duration of the course is one month and the maximum number of students admitted is 30. The course creates awareness on the conservation of historical monuments in India and their application in various sectors including tourism.
